Lamentations

petridisch An incredibly welcome occupation of space. Musically up there with Barbara Morgenstern, Milosh, and other like-minded artists of that ol' 'indietronica' genre, but with a decidedly more somber spin, topped with priceless, almost literally broken Vocoded vocal lines. A+ debut from Orpheus and well done Infinite Sync! Favorite track: War.

Heartache 03:33
Lies and pretense In this rotten heart Bones are cast away Watch my life restart Was there a chance To make the love stay? Written in your eyes The revelation And I'm worried I can't love the way you do I'm so sorry I cannot be with you My mind is fearless But I'm rotting in this cage Peeling wallpaper And cobwebs on the ceiling I'm worried I can't love the way you do I'm so sorry I cannot be with you
2.
War 03:08
If I described to you The killing fields It would break your heart So I just won't But I think it's wrong You don't know your home It's the ordinary men That you should be most afraid of They will do their job Nevermind the snow and mud The breath of life is robbed They irrigate with blood It's the ordinary men That you should be most afraid of
3.
Love 02:34
The peak of my love In the shadiest valley Can it charm the gods Who watch us always from above? And can it subdue The secret powers That guard your heart From the poisoned flowers of my bed? You jumped on my spear And I fell in your fire Just like the ancient heroes Who sacrificed it all for love. But now the root’s exposed The heartwood is gone You know that hate Will scorch the land, the land we’ve sown.
4.
Death 03:00
I'm floating I'm floating down this stream I've seen it I've seen it in my dreams Bitter words pour out When I know my death Tear me limb from limb And toss my severed head And I'll sing for you Never stop until you command it Yes I'll sing for you Never stop until you demand it And now the holy Sun For which my throat was cut Enters a barren temple Smell of incense is gone And I'll sing for you Never stop until you command it Yes I'll sing for you Never stop until you demand it I'll never stop Never stop
5.
Hope 02:56
As long as song persists There will be love to give A light that fills the room And gives meaning to the shadow It's very near your heart It's never very far Voices lifting words That echo to the gods And then rising in the morning The soul is lifted up Joy and sorrow for the living Granted by the Sun

about

Long ago my songs made the very gods of this Earth weep.

My inspiration, the divine Apollo, deemed that my music should anger those Maenads that worshipped Dionysus and longed for the sweetest of sounds and the most beautiful of songs.

The Maenads cut off my head, but I return from beyond Styx at Apollo's behest.

Despite my cut vocal cords, I will once again bring the gift of my song to the ears of mortals with the aid of the mechanics of this world.

This is truly an age of wonders.

My only hope is that you, the people of this tumultuous era, can find some beauty in these lamentations.
